Regarded as terrorists, US Muslims Continue Cornered

Regarded as terrorists, US Muslims Continue Cornered,. Washington: The life of Muslims in the United States (US) has totally changed since the Sept. 11, 2001 (9/11). They cornered because it is often seen as terrorists.

Since the 9/11 attacks, the authorities concerned US Muslims may become radicalized and involved in terrorist activities in the Americas region. this is exacerbated when militants ISIS urged his supporters to kill American soldiers in the list of their threat.

However, studies by a number of universities in the state of North Carolina concluded US Muslims as a whole are not moved at all by such appeal.

It can be seen from the recognition that Ayad Sally never directly affected by the conflict in the Middle East. "Various reports and things that happen in the region have never experienced here and we were never taught to condemn or justify it at all," Sally said, as quoted by VOA Indonesia, Saturday (28/03/2015).

While Muslims in Raleigh, North Carolina, and throughout America, the situation is more or less similar. But many of them are often suspected and regarded as a potential terrorist.

Since the 9/11 terror attacks, such as the Muslim neighborhoods in Raleigh very often become the focus of attention. But a new comprehensive study concluded that the focus of this sort misdirected.

Researchers Charles Kurzman count the number of US Muslims who have been arrested for allegedly plotting or committing violence since 2001. The figure is about 250 people.

That number may sound great, but it is very small compared with the total of about three million Muslims in the land of Uncle Sam.

These include Dzokhar Tsarnaev, bombers in the marathon in Boston, Nidal Hassan, the perpetrator shot at the Fort Hood military base, and Abdirahmaan Muhumed, who had tried to join the militants in Syria.

"Various acts of terror by about 250 people has resulted in 50 deaths, which is insignificant compared with one another statistic. Since the Sept. 11 attacks, there have been more than 200,000 murders in America," said Kuzman.

"The issues of public safety such as a car accident or ease of buying weapons tend to be ignored because the authorities are too focused on the threat of terror," he said.

US President Barack Obama himself insists that no religion is responsible for acts of terror. According to Obama is people who are responsible for violence and terror.

But domestic terrorism expert David Schanzer said Obama's speech on "countering Violent Extremism", it should not discuss the threat of terror once inside and outside the US.

"By combining these two issues we mixed up and give the perception that the threat to US citizens outside the US terror and those involved are similar to the conditions in America. But the reality is not so," said Schanzer.

Whatever the reality, many Muslims still feel cornered by the perception that way since the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks.
